මා බැතිමත් රෝමාණු කතෝලිකයෙක් වෙමි මා පිය උරැමයෙන් මට ලැබුන මෙම දහමට බැති සිතින් ගරැ කරන්නෙමි මාගේ ජීවිතයටත් වඩා මා මාගේ දෙවි පියානන්ට ආදරය දක්වමි මා නිසා මෙන්ම අප නිසා දිවි පරිත්‍යාගය කරන ලද ජේසුස් වහනසේට අප සදා කාලයටම නය ගැති වෙමි
ආදරය දයාව කරැණාව සහ සමාව දීම සැම ජනකාවකටම පොදුය එබැවින් දෙවියන් වහන්සේ කිසිදු ආගමකට අයත් නොවන අතර රොමාණු කතෝලිකයෙක් හෝ බයිබල කාරයෙකුද පෙන්ත කොස්ත කාරයෙකුද නොවනු ඇත එසේ වෙන් කොට හදුනන්නේ නම් එය පුදගලික වාසින තකා දෙවි පියානන් බෙදා වෙන් කර ගන්නා බව මාගේ හැගීමය.
අප දේශයට මෙම දහම පැමිණීම හා ව්‍යාප්ත විම පිළීබදව යම් යම් ගැටලුන් මතු වුවද එය දෙවි පියානනගේ කැමැත්ත මිස අන් කිසිවක් නොවනු ඇති බව මාගේ විශ්වාශයයි.
එසේම අප දෙශය පාලනය කරනා රජ දරැවන් විසින් කරන ලද ඉතා අයහපත් සිද්ධින්හි ප්‍රතිපලයක් ලෙසින් මෙම දහම ශ්‍රී ලක් දිවයිනට පැමිණී බව නම් නොරහකි එසේ නොවන්නට වර්ථමානයේ පවා රජ දරැවන්ගේ එක් එක් පන්ති බේදයන්ට කොටු වෙමින් සිටිමට සිදුවන බව නොරහසකි.
එය පිළීගත යුතු සත්‍යයි එසේ නොවන්නේ යැයි යමෙකු තර්කයන් ඉදිපත් කරන්නේ නම් ඒ සදහා පිළීතුරැ දිමට මා නොපැකිලෙමි විශේසයෙන් ඉතා යහපත් දැහැමින් අප රට පාලනය කරමින් රට ජාතිය ආරක්ෂා කරන ලද රජ දරැවන් අප දේශය පාලනය කර ඇති අතර ඉතාමත් කෲර අන්දමින් මිනිසුන් තලා පෙලමින්
මාගේ දේවශ්ථානයට මා කුඩාකල සිට ඉතා ආදරය කරමි....මෙම ශාන්ත ඉසිදෝරැ දේවශ්ථානයක් නොමැති වුයේ නම් මම අද මෙතන නැත .මාගේ දෙමවිපියන් ඉන්පසු මා ඉගෙනගත් පාසැල හා එක්ව බැදි අනෙක් වැදගත්ම ස්ථානය වුයේ මාගේ දේවශ්ථානයයි.......මෙම ස්ථානයෙන් මා ලැබූ පන්නරය කොතෙක්දැයි කිමට මා හට වචන නැත .එහෙත් අද මා එක තැනකට කොටු වි හිටියත් ඒ හිටින්නේ මා ඉගෙනගත් හැදුන වැඩුන මෙම දේවශ්ථානයටත් එහි ඉගෙන්වු බසටත් පින්සිදු වන්නටය....කවුරැන් කෙසේ මා සමග තර්කයන්ට ඉදිරිපත් වුවද ඒ සෑම තර්කයක්ම පරාජය කරලීමට තරම් දැනුමක් මා හට ලබා දුන් මාගේ දේවශ්ථානයට මම ගරැකරන්නෙමි...සදා නයගැතිය ..එය මා මියයන තුරැ ඉටු කරනා බවනම් සත්‍යයකි....මා වර්ථමානයේ ජිවත් වන්නේද .....මා අදහන මා ගරැකරනා දෙවියන්ට පින්සිදුවන්නටය.....එය නොවන්නට මට මෙසේ ප්‍රකාශ කිරිමත් සිහිනයක් වන්නේමය.......................
කවුරැන් කෙසේ කෙලෙසක තර්කයන් ඉදිරිපත් කලද ඇත්ත ඇති සැටියෙන් පෙන්වා දිමටත් ......සත්‍ය කථාකිරිමටත් ................මට කියාදුන් දෙවි සමිදුන්ට මම සෑම දිනයකදිම තුති ප්‍රශංසා කරන්නෙමි.......වර්ථමානයේ මෙන්ම අතිතයේ අපරට ගැන පලාත ගැන මිනිසුන් ගැන කථා කිරිමේදි අපට හැගෙන දැනෙන දෙය කුමක්ද යන්න අපහට සිතා ගැනිමට දැනුමක් එන්නේ නම් ....එය සැබැ වාසනාවන්ත කමකි..... චරිතය වර්ධනවන්නාවු පුද්ගලයින්ගේ බුද්ධය වර්ධනය වන්නේය.............බුද්ධිය වර්ධනය වනවිට රටක් ජාතියක් ඉදිරියට යන ගමන කිසිදු ජගතෙකුට නවතාලිය නොහැක...... එසේනම් අප ප්‍රථමයෙන්ම චරිතය ගොඩ නගා ගතයුතුයි.........
About 125 years ago, i.e. in 1886 A.D. Thibbotugoda village had only two
Buddhist monasteries and one temple. A dispute occurred when certain
religious activities were conducted in one monastery. It went out of
control and since there was no solution to the problem, a person named
Juwan Fernando and four others went to a place called Makawita at that
time and met a foreign priest and converted to Catholicism. This is
considered to be the birth of Thibbotugoda dynasty. The ancient writings
mention that St. Isidore's statue, gifted by Beatha Maria, a Spanish
devout lady, was brought into the Church and established it with great
celebrations. The Thibbotugoda Church, which was a parish of only four
Christian families, took the shape of a small hut which had a Cross
fixed in it. As time passed by the Parish
Community grew and the
need of a structured Church emerged. In order to satisfy this need,
under the guidance of the first Parish Priest of Thibbotugoda Parish,
Rev. Fr. Stewart the Church work began in 1886 during the month of May.
The work was inaugurated by then Bishop, His Lordship Rev. Bonjan. In
order to complete the Church building, including Fr. Stewart and his
seven successors had to put their heart and soul in the efforts. The
building of the Church was successfully completed after 37 years in
1924, during the period of Rev. Fr. C. M. Fernando. There was a new dawn
for the sub parish Thibbotugoda, when Rev. Fr. Augustine Gallo Balma, a
skilled Italian Engineer, was appointed to the main parish Midellawita.
With this change, the extension and renovation of the old Church began
in May 1962 and was completed within eight years in 1970. Two
significant milestones of the history of the Church are, being able to
celebrate the 100th Jubilee in 1987 as well as the 125th Jubilee in
2012. In 1972, four nuns of from the order of Sisters of Providence came
to stay permanently in the Parish. They have continued to offer their
spiritual support for almost 40 years. We are grateful for the service
they offer to the society with the pre-school they started in the
village. It is also important to call to mind, the Palm Sunday
Procession started by Rev. Fr. Gallo Balma in 1974.
